Letters from Letty

Dear Readers,

Hey everyone! It’s nice to see that you are still here with us. This issue we’ve explored the delicious world of the male author, and it’d like to extend this to Letter From Letty.

Today’s lesson: Don’t Judge A Book By It’s Cover

I know, you’ve heard this, but perhaps I should edit it slightly to say, don’t judge a book by the author name on the cover. While this could be used in many a situation—whether the author is male or female—I’d like to focus on our amazing male counterparts.

Hey, I’m an author, and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I understand the work that goes into it, the blood sweat, and tears. I know that it isn’t always easy, that most days the emotional beatings can be pretty tough. An author’s name, something they cannot change (outside of pseudonyms), should never affect them. A male author shouldn’t have to write under a female name in order to be given the same respect. We all want our babies to be loved, cherished, and shared with the world.

Readers, give authors a chance. Pick up books you may have otherwise walked away from. Find something within the book to truly love or dislike instead of banking that on the author’s name. We live in a world where so much literature is available to us that we forget the times of searching through a store, finding an unknown writer, and falling in love with them. Remember, when you first picked up a book you didn’t know a single author yet. Expand your horizons, and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

As always, stay Fab, Fierce, and awesomely Geek.

Love, Letty
